Overview

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of the highest standard of nursing care to Geriatric patients who attends the Holly Day ward Clinic.
The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources within the clinical area. The main responsibilities are: quality assurance, people management, resource management, staffing and staff development, practice development, facilitating communication and professional / clinical leadership
Holly Day Ward is a Monday to Friday clinic that offers a dedicated outpatient service providing specialized interdisciplinary ambulatory care to community dwelling older adults within the catchment area of Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown. It allows for a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) to happen continuously to promote well-being of older adults. Holly Day Ward supports those living with Geriatric conditions such as cognitive impairment, movement disorders, delirium, falls and frailty, it also acts as hub for older person care, allowing coordination between acute, rehabilitation and community services. Holly day ward has several specialist clinics including, memory assessment and support clinic, movement disorder clinic, stroke and hypertension clinic, geriatric assessment clinic, frailty assessment clinic, fracture liaison service and a transfusion & infusion service.

 

The salary scale for the post is:

There is currently 1 permanent, whole-time vacancy available.

Essential Criteria

Eligibility criteria

 

Qualifications and/ or experience
Candidates must have at the latest date of application: -

 

1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.

 

(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

 

(i) Are registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or entitled to be so registered.

And

(ii) Have at least 5 years post registration experience (or an aggregate of 5 years fulltime post registration experience) of which 2 years must be in the speciality or related area – Medical, Acute Hospital Experience.
And

(iii) Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.

And

(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

 

2. Annual registration

(i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).
And

(ii) Confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

 

2. Age
Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (within
the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004). A
candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of
the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.

 

3. Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

4. Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

 

 

Post Specific Requirements

 

- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in Acute Geriatric setting

- Candidates must have Completed IV Cannulation and Phlebotomy
