The purpose of the post of the CPC (Midwifery) will be to guide and support student midwives (pre and post-registration) and staff in assigned clinical areas to ensure that the clinical placement meets the requirements of the education programme with regards to planned experiences and outcomes.
The CPC (Midwifery) works with the Midwifery Practice Development Department to support students in all learning environments including those beyond the parent hospital.
While the post is primarily concerned and designated to supporting post registration and pre-registration midwifery education, the post holder is expected to liaise with other professionals involved in the whole continuum of midwifery education and with a broader teams involved in multidisciplinary professional education and development.

(b)Candidates must possess the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his/her Professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice
(i) Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the appropriate/relevant Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) for the role

(ii) Confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
Age
No age restriction shall apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004). In this case the candidate must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.
