The Clinical Skills Facilitator is a clinically engaged educator embedded within the Emergency Department team. The role provides practice-based education, competency assessment and simulation-based training for nursing and HCA staff, while also supporting those undertaking formal academic programmes. Working in partnership with the Nurse Practice Development Unit, the Clinical Skills Facilitator helps translate evidence-based practice into safer, more efficient, and more consistent patient care.
The Clinical Skills Facilitator is a key resource for the nursing team and provides structured orientation and mentorship for new staff, supporting development in emergency assessment and technical skills, and supervises learners engaged in specific emergency or postgraduate training. The role maintains a deliberate balance between facilitation and direct clinical practice to preserve clinical credibility, deliver real time bedside teaching, and lead multidisciplinary simulation and debriefing that drive measurable quality improvement outcomes
